BLEACH 7th Opening Theme – After Dark

Just not as cool as Rewrite… Maybe it was the elevator scene in the OP sequence that made Rewrite better?

After Dark
Vocals: Asian Kung-Fu Generation
Lyrics: Goto Masafumi
Composition: Goto Masafumi & Yamada Takahiro
Arrangement: Asian Kung-Fu Generation

I’ll escape while the shadow behind me finishes growing
Without even realizing that my wings have peeled and fallen off, I fly

I drool over the sweet scent at the street corner
From the far side
There’s a cry that sounds like I’ve heard it elsewhere

Carrying the faint hope that the night wind holds
Where can I go?
As if rejecting it, the world quakes and steals away everything
If it was a dream, then I’ve woken up
But we’re still not doing anything
Advancing on

I act like I’ll quit being lazy at midday
I fly so that I can look down upon the newborn clouds

The scent of blood wafts from the street corner
From the far side
There’s a cry that sounds like I’ve heard it elsewhere

The deep red moon drifting sluggishly appears and the die is rolled
I want to quit the careless days
So that I don’t come to an end by feigning ignorance

Carrying the faint hope that the night wind holds
Where can I go?
As if rejecting it, the world quakes and steals away everything
If it was a dream, then I’ve woken up
But we’re still not doing anything
Advancing on

歌:Asian Kung-Fu Generation
Asian Kung-Fu Generation

  1. AKFG is such a weird band in a way. when you see their lyrics written down, sometimes they sound nothing like what the lead singer is actually singing. (or just very distorted, like several lines in “Rewrite” and the very end of the TV Size “After Dark”. i honestly didn’t hear “yoru e susume” until i saw this, then went back and listened more carefully.) their songs are always great tho.

must say this is my favorite anime song of theirs. it beats the repetition of “Haruka Kanata” and the guitar riff at the beginning blows “Rewrite” outta the water. the elevator thing in the “Rewrite” animation is definitely cool, but the symbolism in this opening’s animation is also wonderful.

thanks for the translation as usual, keep up the good work. :3
