Hey, if u were looking for evidence on the whole KILA/KIRA debate? if u look at the MTH video for zetsubou billy then it has KIRA on a yellow card next to a dead TV presenter? approximately 2mins and 44 secs in
really, who cares if its kila or kira. in the end, when you sing along to the song, it really doesnt matter. no need to waste time arguing/debating online about what the lyrics posted by atashi should be.
just appreciate that atashi translated all this gibberish zetsubou billy for us.

For Kila/Kira, I supposed it does not make a difference because Japanese Language do not differentiate between the ‘R’ and ‘L’ pronunciation. :o)

as i recall, they do not pronounce the letter “L” clearly…
instead, they replaced it with “R”
ex.. KIRA -> KILA
RAITO -> LIGHT
MERO -> MELLO
ERU -> L
But when L introduced himself it sounded like L. How did they get Raito from Light i wonder…

they always use “r” to replace the “l”

they just don’t have the signs/syllables to say “Light”, so they have to use something that sounds similar (ra-i-to) (Engrish is fun XD).
(However, what gets on my nerves is ppl who write “L, Mello etc”, but always write “Raito”, come on, then you’d have to write “Eru” as well :P. (probably those ppl just do that to seem “oh so cool, I know japanese” XD))

If you checked the link, you’ll see that they spelled it kira and you can also clearly hear that that they pronounce the Japanese word for killer (kira) with an r rather than an l.

In Japanese ‘R’ and ‘L’ are inter changable, That’s why they call Light “Righto” and when japanese people speak english they some times have trouble with l’s resulting in mispronucnciations such as “Herro”

For those of you asking if it was made specifficaly for Death Note, check the link that “thatOneGuy” posted. The video has a guy writting names in a death note. It is meant for the show. Also, I think I saw something about it on wikipedia about it being for it. As for the Pronunciation, if they put it in the lyric book several times the same way I hardly think it would be a typo. Although every anime lyric site I’ve been to has had it as “Kira.” This may just be one of life’s unsolvable mysteries unless someone knows the band personally :-p

I was going to comment that teh reason it says kila is because the japanses pronounce their r’s by curling thir tongue slightly and touching the roof of thier mouth, much the same way americans pronounce r’s but it seems to have already been said, and since you havent changed it based on everybody else comments, there isnt much point.. O:
i think i understand now… because i heard them in the anime clearly saying ‘Kila’.. which now makes sense, if they were trying to say ‘Kira’…

In the Japanese language “L” and “R” can be said in words without changing meaning of it. I’ve heard that it just makes you sound more serious/angry etc. when you say “R”. I asume that’s why the name of the songs changes from “Billy” and “Birii”. But I’m not sure, it’s just what I’ve heard. Thanks for the lyrics!
