I was massively disappointed by Goodsmile Company and Max Factory’s offerings for Wonder Festival 2008 [Summer] when they were first announced a few weeks ago. GSC/MF finally put out something worthy: figma Nagato Yuki (Evil Witch ver.) from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! Now that’s the GSC/MF that I know and love.

Space Witch Nagato will come with seven right hands parts, five left hand parts, witch hat, two capes, Sterling Inferno wand, guitar, guitar strap, Shamisen, two tea cups, teapot, tea tray, advertisement signboard, two sign stickers, stand base, and stand beam. The huge assortment of spare parts justifies the price tag, 3,000 yen.

EDIT: I just noticed that Space Witch Nagato will be available for regular retail in September. So no online preorders.

Side note: Does anyone know what the official translation (dub) for Yuki’s label, “warui mahou-tsukai (悪い魔法使い)” is? Please do tell if you know.

I received the Xbox-huge package today in the mail. Thank Haruhi that I didn’t have to pay customs tax on it after I forgot to remind Yuya to not indicate the actual value of the loot on the declaration form. Then again, I was at work, so my tactless brother had to answer the door and he might’ve signed away my firstborn to USPS.

I made a prototype of the Haruhiism shirt today. My printer strangely printed a slightly more violet shade of red rather than orange-red, though.

The gallery for Sega Prize’s Suzumiya Haruhi EX Figure Live Alive was originally posted on December 20th, 2007, on GA Graphic, before I got into figurines, so I missed it until now. All I can say is, wow, the Haruhi figurine looks absolutely amazing for its price. It looks so much better than similar figurines from lower-tier makers. I would’ve jumped on preordering Live Alive Haruhi already if not for the fact that the actual in-store product would not be as good as the prototype. I’m very disheartened by previous EX Figures I’ve seen from Sega Prize, and I really hope that Live Alive Haruhi would be better.

Just a week ago I was lamenting about how I couldn’t think of anything else to get from Japan along with the huge Wonder Festival 2008 [Winter] package due in two weeks. I spent several days talking to Yuya and fellow coworkers during my part-time job, but still drew a blank. Then I happened onto Animate’s cosplay shop the day after it opened and impulsively bought the Vampire Knight Day Class girls’ uniform immediately. With that, I decided to get the official Cross Academy crest pendant from LaLa to match my LaLa Cross Tattoo Bracelet and a Pochama Pokémon pillow because one of my friends wants it. The darn thing costs $45 in the US, as opposed to just 1,200 yen (~$11.58) on Yahoo! Auction Japan.

Goodsmile Company updated today with an announcement for the sale of Nendoroid Petit: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Bon Festival Gift Set, which features Haruhi, Yuki, Mikuru, Ryoko, and Tsuruya-san in uniquely colored school swimsuits and inner tubes. Preorders will start on June 9th in Circle K Sunkus stores nationwide in Japan and online at tokimeki mall. The set costs 3,000 yen (~$28.49). Ship date is set to be July 11th and the set is limited to 5000.

There is no God but Haruhi, and Kyon is her Prophet.

I’m not sure who first came up with that line, but I think it’d make a great T-shirt. “There is no God but Haruhi” on the front and “and Kyon is her Prophet” on the back, complete with a Haruhiism logo. I tried putting the designs up on Cafepress, but I think the product prices there are too high. If you want a real shirt with the designs iron transferred on, send me an e-mail and I can probably get you a shirt for $10-$15.
