Nyoro~n Churuya-san Megas Limited Edition with Nendoroid Petit Churuya-san

- Upgrading the blurb in my last post, the limited edition of the Churuya-san manga will come with a Nendoroid Petit Churuya-san by Goodsmile Company. Also in the limited edition bundle are special full-color cover for the manga and an illustrated booklet from the artist behind Churuya-san. The manga will be released on September 10th, 2009, for 1,890 yen.
- I’ve liked the Churuya-san 4-komas since the first time I saw them, and Churuya-san is a character in its own right. I think I’ll probably pick up the manga, though it’s quite pricey even with a Nendoroid figurine…

Merchandise Tidbits – October 25th, 2008

Tsubasa Shunraiki & ×××HOLiC Shunmuki OVA

- Tsubasa -RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE- is getting yet another OVA adaptation like Tsubasa TOKYO REVELATIONS, this time titled “Tsubasa Shunraiki” (ツバサ 春雷記). It will cover the parts of the manga where the characters go to Fai’s country to confront King Ashura, the trip to Kurogane’s Japan, and finally the Dream World of Syaoran vs. Syaoran, It will be a 2-part OVA and the DVDs are to be bundled with limited first press editions of vol. 26 and 27 of the manga, to be released on March 17, 2009, and April 17, 2009, respectively. Both volumes will be 3,700 yen. The production team and cast for the OVA will remain the same as Tsubasa TOKYO REVELATIONS. In the same vein, ×××HOLiC is getting a two-part OVA adaptation, too, titled “×××HOLiC Shunmuki” (×××HOLiC 春夢記), to be bundled with vol. 14 and 15 of the manga, to be released on February 17, 2009, and May 15, 2009.
- I’m very glad to see more of the manga to be animated without the horrid job known as Bee Train. I won’t shell out 4 X 3,700 yen just for 25-minute videos, but I’m definitely looking forward to watching the episodes. I’m not sure what the ×××HOLiC OVA will be about, but hopefully a better adaptation of Kohane’s story.

Lucky☆Star OVA Theme Song – Ai o Torimodose!!

It was just in the last few weeks I recalled the manly awesomeness known as the opening theme to Hokuto no Ken, Ai o Torimodose!!. I watched the entire first and second seasons of the 1984 anime when I was 6 years old and learned a bunch of people-exploding moves from Kenshiro. Oh man, good times, very good times.

I was ecstatic to hear Ai o Torimodose!! during the Lucky☆Star OVA, especially since it was sung by the Lucky Channel duo, Akira-sama and her lovely assistant, Sebastian Minoru-kun. I’d been planning to put up the lyrics to the original version of the song anyways.

Update: Another merchandise find today.

Pointed out by someone on the LJ Code Geass community, Production Baobab posted a blog entry about the GO! GO! 5 FES ’08 featuring Koishimizu Ami and Fukuyama Jun. They are cosplaying the characters that they voice for Code Geass (though Fukuyama is only doing a ghetto job of it XD) and rumors have it that the Black Knights uniform Koshimizu has on in the photo will be on sale sometime in the near future. Since I think Animate was one of the sponsors of the event, I believe that the costume will be sold through Animate’s ACOS shop. Huzzah! Now if only they’d showcase the Ashford Academy uniforms…

Stop Tempting Me With Cute Things, Animate

Just as I finally decided to get a Konata plush doll, another quick look through Animate’s catalog yielded a Higurashi Kai Rika plush and Darker Than Black‘s Mao plush. I am such a massive sucker for cute things and especially limited edition goods (the Rika plush is a Comiket 74 limited edition item). Ugh. Now I have to consider fitting them into my ever-shrinking budget…

Edit: Hahah, oh wow. The Rika plush sold out the day after I posted this.

figma Konata (Cosplay ver.): What Now?

By now I’ve had the figma Konata (Cosplay ver.), a limited edition item from WF 2008 [W], in my house for several days. I don’t know what to do with her. I don’t have the knowledge or photography skills to do a massive product review like other hobbyists. Heck, I haven’t even made up my mind to crack the seal on the box. So for now, I just look at her for a few minutes each day and wonder about what the heck I should do with her. I guess figurines beyond Nendoroid Petits really aren’t for me.

I received the Xbox-huge package today in the mail. Thank Haruhi that I didn’t have to pay customs tax on it after I forgot to remind Yuya to not indicate the actual value of the loot on the declaration form. Then again, I was at work, so my tactless brother had to answer the door and he might’ve signed away my firstborn to USPS.

Lucky☆Star Konata & Kagami Plushies

The only question is, should I get them both since they’re a couple?

I came across Lucky☆Star Konata and Kagami plushies on Animate today. They’re extremely adorable! I’m surprised that I’ve never even heard of these before, but then again, the land of Japan produces far more merchandise than one can imagine. The two plushies cost 2,625 yen apiece (~$24.58) and set to be released on August 21st, 2008. They measure…25mm tall according to the product pages. o.O I hope that’s a typo (250mm would be about right), or otherwise they’d be 1-inch-tall plushies. If that’s the case, I should save my money and buy Chuck the Pedobear instead.

Nendoroid Petit Kyon & Minoru

Being the great WAWAWA forgetful person I am, I managed to leave behind my Nendoroid Petit Kyon in my apartment when I had to move back home in a hurry. So I had a replacement Nendo Petit Kyon shipped to me together with a Nendo Petit Minoru from Lucky☆Star.

Update: Wow, being so WAWAWASUREMONO, I forgot that I indeed did pack my old Nendo Petit Kyon; I found it just now wrapped up in my Miracle Mikurun Apron. orz. So if anyone wants a Nendo Petit Kyon, send me an e-mail.
