サソリは魔除けの力があるから!」
And so I survive for another night.
On a side note, I’m mildly annoyed that the anime made the beads of Maria’s bracelet blue instead of (what I assume they were in the game) green.

We’ve done Vocaloid.
We’ve done Katawa Shoujo.
Time for the next cosplay poll.
Like with the previous poll, I’m simply asking you to pick a series that you’d like to see us cosplay; no specific characters. If you want something that’s not on the list, feel free to put it in as a write-in or suggest it in the comments below.

My cosplay group was god-awesome. Massive props to my friends. I’m so happy with how our skit turned out, despite that we only had about three days to work on it. Special shout-out to my kid brother for braving it on stage.
For some reason, people were laughing at times when we didn’t think there was a joke or anything funny (i.e. Kaito shaking Len). So if you can figure out why it was so funny, please let me know.

I apologize for that I have barely put up anything in the past month or so, because I’ve been quite busy with cosplay and Katawa Shoujo. I’ve been working on two costumes and I still have three or four more to go for other friends by the Anime Evolution deadline. Just as I thought I was finally finding some free time and being able to go back and write for Sankaku Complex again, Katawa Shoujo hit like a truck. I didn’t expect much from 4chan, but the game was surprisingly enjoyable, and I’d definitely play the full version when it comes out. As a result, I’ve been researching the feasibility of a Katawa Shoujo cosplay and making a bunch of fan stuff for the series. I contributed very minor things to the game back in 2007 and corrected the kanji for all of the names at one point in 2008, but I’m unsure if how much of that is still around now. I can’t remember whether I suggested anything else or not.
….Nevertheless, I still don’t understand how Hanako is so popular amongst men. She’s my least favorite heroine. My ranking goes like:
Shizune = Emi > Lilly = Misha > Rin >>> [wall] >>> Hanako

I woke up around 10am in the morning hearing to MSNBC reporting that the captain from Somalian pirate attack was recovered safely. The hotel maid tried to break into my room twice while I was still in a groggy state. There weren’t any panels that I wanted to attend on Sunday, so I threw on a swimsuit and had my friends crossplay, and we went down to Exhibitors’ Hall to see what loot we can pick up on the final day.

I had to wake up at 8am this morning to get ready for the Cosplay Contest. I can’t believe that it was held in the morning. Ugh, I totally thought it’d be in the evening. Anyhow, I only had an hour’s sleep beforehand since I spent the previous night working on the costume for the contest. The contest went fine. I saw the usual share of good, bad, and mediocre entries. I ended up not winning anything, but it was great to strut around on stage, spreading Touhou to the masses. I even spliced a Satoko laugh into the audio track. I almost lost my balance and fell over in the high-heeled shoes I wore.

That was amazing. Sakura-con 2009 has been great so far. I snapped a bunch of photos of cosplays that I loved and had a handful of people recognize my Nagisa (Clannad) cosplay.
I stayed up all night yesterday trying to create a music track for my Cosplay Contest entry and pick out songs to use for the Karaoke Idol contest. My friends and I made it to the convention center about 15 minutes before registration opened and we were able to beat the crowds and lines. Later I crashed for about three hours in the morning though, because I’d not slept a wink the previous night. Fortunately I didn’t miss much.

Is anyone else going to Sakura-con 2009, in Seattle, Washington, from April 10th through 12th? If so, would anyone be interested in a quick meetup there?

UPDATE: Looks like Vocaloid is the winner this time. Thanks to all who have voted! The poll will remain open and the ranking of the non-winning choices will determine the contents of my next cosplay poll, to come with the Summer 2009 anime season. The lowest ranking choices will be reckoned off.
The write-in results are hilarious. I’ve gotten people’s votes for Chi’s Sweet Home (XDD), Haruhi (oh God, don’t you know I’ve sworn off Haruhi until second season finally airs?), Umineko (a little too early for that), etc.
Besides the Vocaloid group cosplay, I’ll probably be inexplicably drawn into the new Fullmetal Alchemist series and end up cosplaying Ed or someone else equally short. I’m also planning on doing some nostalgia cosplay at some point this summer, like Ichijoji Ken from Digimon Adventure 02, because Ken-chan was my first anime waifu/hasbando and the one who made me pick up chopsticks again.

The fall winter 2009 anime season started almost two months ago and I’ve seen everything that I’ve wanted to check out in the new season…and frankly it was disappointing. Winter 2009 barely offered anything good. Sora Kake Girl is boring; Sunrise should’ve just made some crack spin-off of Code Geass instead. KyoAni’s offering, Sora o Miageru Shojo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai, a handful to type out, is merely a display of how far the studio has come since Munto. The first episodes were essentially rehashes of Munto animation. I’m not a fan of magical genre, so I’ve stopped watching that after one episode (the bad animation didn’t help).

Kuroshitsuji Cushion

- Preorders have opened for a lacy Kuroshitsuji cushion with the Phantomhive crest silk-screen printed on sateen. The cushion measures about 250mm by 250mm and is set to be released on February 19th, 2009. The show’s title is printed on the small bow on the corner. The cushion will cost 1,575 yen.
- That’s quite adorable, though I’m not sure what I can do with a cushion that small.
