February 2009 Loot Box

Ever since incurring that debt, I’ve cut down on the amount of merchandise to get from Japan, so this month’s loot box isn’t as huge or extensive as previous ones’. However, now I limit myself to get rarer goods and/or goods of higher quality.

Edit: This is messy. I’m going to do a clean Merchandise Sales post later with all currently available merchandise neatly linked instead of the awkward assortment below. This post will now just be a loot photo-sharing post.

Dining in True Weeaboo Fashion, Pt. III – Valentine’s Day Special

Possibly the most ridiculous thing that I’ve ever made this year so far: A Rolo cake in commemoration of Valentine’s Day, dedicated to Lelouch.

Geass Trivia from Kimura [Animage Jan. '09]

In Jan. ’09 issue of Animage, there’s a short segment from Kimura (character designer) about random Code Geass R2 stuff.

Number of eyes
- Lelouch’s emperor outfit, including the cape and hat, has a total of 12 eye-jewel things.
- Suzaku’s Knight of Zero outfit, including gloves, has a total of 17 eye-jewel things, so Suzaku wins…
- However, if you add the eye-jewels (6) on Lelouch’s fugly sword, Lelouch has a grand total of 18 eye-jewels, so he wins after all (?).

Code Geass R2 The Complete Official Guidebook Review

I got the Code Geass R2 official guidebook mentioned in this post a while ago, so here’s a quick photo review of it.

First and foremost, unlike the euphemistic summaries from magazines and online synopses, the book repeatedly states that Lelouch is dead. The last few photos are of instances that I found in the book where it stated so.

Happy Birthday, Lelouch-kun!

Name: Lelouch Lamperouge
Birthday: December 5, 1999 a.t.b.
Blood Type: A
ID Number: 00116604

The Holy Calendar a.t.b. starts 55 years ahead of the Gregorian Calendar, so technically Lelouch was born in 1944. He’d be one middle-aged-going-senior man now.

Merchandise Tidbits – October 29th, 2008

In this update:
Macross Frontier Sheryl’s Earring
Kuroshitsuji Ciel Phantomhive’s Eyepatch
Kuroshitsuji Sebastian’s Lapel Pin
And of course, blurbs at the end.

Macross Frontier Sheryl’s Earring

- Preorder has opened for the official replica of Sheryl’s earring from Macross Frontier. It measures about 80mm long and it is made of artisan glass and nickel with silver plating. The earring is scheduled to be released in late November and is set to sell in singles, not pairs. One earring will cost 3,150 yen.
- After seeing a whole ton of badly fan-made Sheryl earrings on eBay and Y! Auction, finally the real thing comes out. It’s gorgeous, but the price tag is a bit too steep for me. I might get it if I ever manage to sell off other goods that I don’t need… From the looks of it, the earring is only available through Movic. I’m going to keep checking with Animate and see if they’ll carry it, too.

Merchandise Tidbits – October 23rd, 2008

I find myself discovering new merchandise every week and sometimes so much that I lose track of what to keep in mind and what to get. Hence I’ve started a running list in the sidebar of this blog, but I find too many things to keep straight there, so I’m going to try something new on this site. I’ll make a weekly post about various new things that I find to both remind myself and be of some mini-notification source for other people. The merchandise news will be biased toward cute things and cosplay goods.

Yes, you may ask me for more information and/or help on obtaining stuff.

Anyhow, merchandise finds for the week ending on October 23rd, 2008:

Ranka’s Giant Salamander Phone Plush Doll

- First sold at the Macross Frontier Galaxy Tour event last week, a plush replica of Ranka’s iSlug giant salamander cellphone will be available for sale from Bandai. It measures about 18.5cm long and 8cm thick and will retail for 1,260 yen. The order page is here and it will be released in early December. At this point, I’m not sure if other stores, such as Animate, will carry the item.
- As a massive sucker for cute things and cosplay goods (you’ll hear me mention this again and again), I immediately decided that I must get one of the Ranka cellphone plush dolls. Man, all this time, I thought Ranka’s cellphone was based off of a frog.

Code Geass R2 Scan from Newtype November 2008

The Code Geass spread from the November 2008 issue of Newtype caught my eye, specifically this one:

Link to scan on Moe Imouto, credits to the user. I’ll try to get my own scan up sometime soon.

The text reads:

September 28th, ’08. The story of “Code Geass”, spanning roughly two years—Lelouch’s rebellion met its finale.
Lelouch, who plotted rebellion against his first love, friends, father, mother, and God, offered his own life to become a tyrant emperor.
The mask of Zero that Lelouch wore was succeeded by his one and only friend, Suzaku, for him to become the world’s savior.
His father yearned for the “past”, his brother insisted on “today”. However, Lelouch wished for “tomorrow”.
Believing in not the past or today, but the “tomorrow” that has yet to be seen.
Now that everything is over, has Lelouch fallen into deep slumber? In eternal rest that the ageless and immortal witch watches over.
From the present to the future. From an instant to perpetuity. Will the story be passed down?

The Resting Place of the Rebellion
Requiem

The tyrant emperor Lelouch gained F.L.E.I.J.A. and ruled the world. When the hatred and anger all over the world were focused on him, he played his final hand. It was the Zero Requiem. In a parade, just like a year ago, Zero, the masked man, appeared in front of the masses. Then he thrust a sword through Lelouch. The tyrant emperor fell and Zero became a hero again. Those who knew Lelouch and Zero’s thoughts shed tears and those who were ignorant cheered. The world is aiming for tomorrow. That was Lelouch’s final wish.

Yep, rest in peace, Lelouch-kun…
