Code Geass R2 The Complete Official Guidebook Review

I got the Code Geass R2 official guidebook mentioned in this post a while ago, so here’s a quick photo review of it.

First and foremost, unlike the euphemistic summaries from magazines and online synopses, the book repeatedly states that Lelouch is dead. The last few photos are of instances that I found in the book where it stated so.

Code Geass R2 Episode 25

People, there’s no debate. Lelouch is 100% DEAD. It has been confirmed over and over again in magazines and the R2 Complete Guidebook.

Quick thoughts off the top of my mind:

-I wonder if it’s like the Marianne deal, if C.C. can talk to people she contracted with and consequently died.

-Is Lelouch floating around C’s World, too, now?

-Totally called it when I saw Lelouch make Schneizel obey “Zero” instead of “me/Lelouch”. It was really obvious that Lelouch will not be Zero anymore.

-God, what ever happened to revealing C.C.’s real name. And her wish to die.

-I bet $50 that someone will pull off a cosplay of Nunnally’s new red-and-black number in a week.

My take is that Lelouch is 100% dead, with a remote possibility of swimming around C’s World but no more than that. I don’t believe he achieved immortality since his long death scene was fitting for someone never to return again. He did not get Charle’s Code. If he did, wouldn’t have been able to use the Geass anymore. Taniguchi is finished with the series anyways and that’s the way he wrote it. If Lelouch is to be alive, then a season 3 or future spin-off would be imminent, which obviously aren’t. C.C. was talking to herself at the end of the episode, not to the cart driver, etc.

I cannot foresee a Code Geass R3 coming out anytime soon, but by the decision of keeping C.C. alive, I will take a gamble and say that it is a possibility they will do a new Code Geass series a few years from now. It’ll probably be set in approximately 50 years into the future from the R2 timeline, about the world falling into strife again and C.C. contracting with another person who takes up the mask of Zero. Suzaku can’t keep spin kicking into his 70′s.
