I apologize for that I have barely put up anything in the past month or so, because I’ve been quite busy with cosplay and Katawa Shoujo. I’ve been working on two costumes and I still have three or four more to go for other friends by the Anime Evolution deadline. Just as I thought I was finally finding some free time and being able to go back and write for Sankaku Complex again, Katawa Shoujo hit like a truck. I didn’t expect much from 4chan, but the game was surprisingly enjoyable, and I’d definitely play the full version when it comes out. As a result, I’ve been researching the feasibility of a Katawa Shoujo cosplay and making a bunch of fan stuff for the series. I contributed very minor things to the game back in 2007 and corrected the kanji for all of the names at one point in 2008, but I’m unsure if how much of that is still around now. I can’t remember whether I suggested anything else or not.

….Nevertheless, I still don’t understand how Hanako is so popular amongst men. She’s my least favorite heroine. My ranking goes like:
Shizune = Emi > Lilly = Misha > Rin >>> [wall] >>> Hanako

If things go well I’ll have some random vocal tracks made in tribute to Katawa Shoujo up, like The Manly Whiskey Song.

I’m also working on a parody of the epic Haruhi-chan ‘dating sim’ opening sequence:

Some ancient Katawa Shoujo stuff that I remember dearly from 2007:

Deaf-tan: Hakamichi Shizune
Blind-tan: Asakura Shoko
Burn-tan: Mizuhara Homura
Noleg-tan: Ibarazaki Mai
Thalidomide-tan: Sakakie Samori

These were the names I suggested for the heroines. ‘Hakamichi’, ‘Shizune’, ‘Ibarazaki’ appear to have survived.

Blind-tan: Lilly Sato
Burn-tan: Ikezawa Hanako
Deaf-tan: Hakamichi Rosa
Legless-tan: Ibarazaki Emi
Thalidomide-tan: Tezuka Rin

Winners of the name poll voting. Rosa was too foreign-sounding and switched out shortly thereafter.

My concept art of the characters before I learned that Raita’s drawings would be the official basis. From top to bottom: Hero, Deaf-tan, Blind-tan, Burn-tan, Legless-tan.

I guess it’s all about preference… Hanako’s my favorite heroine out of them all, while Shizune is my least favorite.

yeah, I think its Hanako’s moe shyness that draws attention.
My favorite is Lilly then Hanako.

Nice drawings. Hanako isn’t my favourite either, but yes, I’ve also noticed it is the moé shyness of certain characters that some fans are attracted to. Kind of like how it is with Mio from K-ON!. :3
