{Words of Songs} ~ for the translation of anime & game lyrics

The fall winter 2009 anime season started almost two months ago and I’ve seen everything that I’ve wanted to check out in the new season…and frankly it was disappointing. Winter 2009 barely offered anything good. Sora Kake Girl is boring; Sunrise should’ve just made some crack spin-off of Code Geass instead. KyoAni’s offering, Sora o Miageru Shojo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai, a handful to type out, is merely a display of how far the studio has come since Munto. The first episodes were essentially rehashes of Munto animation. I’m not a fan of magical genre, so I’ve stopped watching that after one episode (the bad animation didn’t help).

The only shows that I’m watching from the winter 2009 season, if they can even be considered as full-fledged anime, are The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Nyoron☆Churuya-san, both irregularly aired on Kadokawa’s YouTube channel. Oh god, Sheep-Mikuru. I immediately went and bought the keychain of her, in addition to the Haruhi-chan keychain from last month, and I’ll be getting the Eggplant-Nagato keychain later this month. The anime version of Churuya-san wasn’t as good as the 4-koma comic, but adorable nevertheless. Can’t wait to see a company release a plush doll of Churuya-san.

As for ongoing shows that I’m still following, they are Kuroshitsuji, CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~, and Toradora! Kuroshitsuji has turned into one crack episode after the next, with some of the most random plot hax and fanservice just to get fangirls riled up that I’ve ever seen. Clannad continues to be one long showcase of KyoAni excellence, though I can’t bring myself to watch the current episodes since they contain Ushio, who is voiced by a lady in her 40s. Ick.

Anyhow, an updated list of potential cosplays to do:
(The poll includes other cosplays that I’ve been considering in addition to the ones from the winter season)

- Ranka Lee and Nishijo Nanami have been reckoned off since the last poll. Pity.
- Serious Haruhi would be easier to pull off than regular Haruhi
- At one point I contemplated cosplaying Sheep-Mikuru by wearing a ball of fluff around my head
- I meticulously calculated Minori’s height (most likely 154cm) by extrapolating data from screenshots of Taiga, Ami, and Minori all together; the heights of Taiga and Ami are known numbers
- So, I’m wondering; when will Toradora!’s official fanbook/artbook/guidebook/visual fanbook come out, if it’ll even have one?
- Sakura’s height is hinted to be 153cm from a manga intro page, but it will never purge the memories of countless unfit people I’ve seen cosplaying the poor character
- There are too many characters in Touhou, therefore I don’t have a specific character up in the poll; ZUN is God
