  2. Awesome! I don’t heard the original version, but your voice sounds very good (The Chobits one is excepcional)

If you record a CD, I would buy it :P

  3. Await the tab Karaoke Request soon :D

  4. Hey you have a sweet voice man.

  5. Awesome!
I wish I could sing as good as you!
Please give us more of your voice ;)

  6. I love how you change your voice on Kuusou Rumba x3 I was singing along with you while listening that.
Both of others are great too. Now I have to listen them again.

  7. Wow, you do just an amazing job. Definitely not the shameful kinds that proliferate the interwebs.

I finished several English versions for songs that I want to dub, the trouble is the recording and producing process.

Since yours sounds so well done, how do you do it? Do you use a computer microphone or some other recording device? Do you listen to the song with a headset and record your singing then mix that recording with the karaoke? Any other specifics about your process would be very helpful. I’m getting a lot done lyrics-wise, but not in actual producing and I would appreciate any advice.

  8. @ wordwaltz:
I used a regular microphone (the $5 model) to record my vocals into Audacity. I listen to the karaoke version of the song via headphones while doing so. Then I fix vocal track (i.e. realigning the vocal track, changing volume) before exporting all as one mp3 file.

  9. Does the regular microphone you use look like the ones they use in karaoke?
For reference, I have this one:
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/microphones/devices/221&cl=us,en

I hadn’t fiddled with Audacity much yet besides attempting recording. I was using the default computer sound recorder before, and I got this microphone since according to a friend the ones I was using before made me sound like I was in a cave. Thanks for answering my questions, I just need the one above answered and I’ll be set. ^_^

  10. @ wordwaltz:
Nope, mine isn’t that fancy. It looks like this: ($2.29 on Amazon.com)
    http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Desktop-Boom-Microphone/dp/B000BSN8ZA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1211769658&sr=1-8
I took my dad’s advice on getting a very standard microphone instead of the newer USB ones (like the one you linked from Logitech) and I think it does an okay job of taking sound without too much noise.

  11. Thanks! Sorry, a few final questions. How far did you stay away from the mic when you were recording? When I recorded, it always came out so quiet I’d have to turn the volume on the computer way up for me to even hear it. I tried to adjust for this by singing a lot louder and a lot closer to the mic (which made me worry about being able to hear excess noise like my breathing, etc), but it didn’t work. >_< Perhaps that can be adjusted through Audacity by changing volume like you said earlier? If so, would you adjust the volume of both the vocal track and the karaoke? Sorry if the answers to my questions seem really obvious, I just totally fail at this.

  12. @ wordwaltz:
I was less than a foot away from the microphone but no closer than several inches. Yes, the initial vocal volume is very, very low for me, too. I usually have to amplify most parts of the vocal track in Audacity by 12 to 15 dbs to make it match the karaoke track. In the past, when I was less savvy about Audacity, I used to soften the karaoke track by -3 dbs, too, but not anymore. I sing my heart out for a karaoke, because singing softly produces a meek-sounding track.
