As a Person, My Axle is Shaking
Vocals: Otsuki Kenji and the Despair Girls
Lyrics: Otsuki Kenji
Composition: NARASAKI
Arrangement: NARASAKI

(Shaky shaky shaky shaky)
(Shaky shaky shaky shaky)
(Shaky shaky shaky shaky)
(Shaky shaky shaky shaky)

Late at night, I was watching the TV
Because I didn’t have anything to do, I was watching blankly
I channel surfed through successful people being praised
(Their axles aren’t shaking for those people, so wonderful)

I’ve got no interest, so I thought and turned it off
I’m going to sleep now, I’ve got work again from tomorrow on

Without falling asleep, I flipped through a comic book
The gravure idols were smiling
(Athletes are my type.
Their axles aren’t shaking when it comes to them, so wonderful)

I knew it, the reason why I wasn’t getting rewarded
As a person, for me, my axle shakes

If that’s so, then grow a spine! I’m already
Shaky shaky shaky shaky shaking away
Make it so that I don’t know I’m trembling!
Slip away! I’m already a shaky shaky human
But certainly if you are here, I’ll change?
(I’m here, please notice)

Think of an axle’s shaking as undulations
This shaking will change the world, right?
People can’t help but notice me
Even if they can only see that I’m trembling

I already know, the reason why I wasn’t getting rewarded
As a person, my axle is shaking

Ah, I know it, the reason why I’m trembling
Because I’m not being supported by anyone

Grow a spine! We’re already
Shaky shaky shaky shaky shaking away
Make it so that I don’t know I’m trembling!
Slip away! I’m already a shaky shaky human, but certainly
When I meet you, I’ll change?
(I’m here, please notice…)

  1. Ahh I’ve been wanting a translation for this song for a while. Thanks~

  2. wonderful translation as usual, much better than the fansub’s. :D

  3. You could use zapping instead of channel surfing, but great translation anyway :)

  4. But the problem is, most people won’t know what zapping is supposed to mean ‘channel surfing’ in Japanese.

  5. For “bure” using “twist” rather than “shake” as a translation seems clearer in english. Especially when used in this phrase “Hito to shite ore, jiku ga burete n da” as “a twisted person” instead of “As a person, for me, my axle shakes” which sounds more grammatically choppy, like Engrish, than most of your translations (which are awesome, by the way). It doesn’t really matter for me, because I speak japanese well enough to understand the song anyway, but I thought it would be clearer for those who dont.

  6. It’s twist, not shaky ¬_¬

  7. Thanks for lyrics & translation, I love this anime. ^.^

  8. @Moogle Mach.

actually bure, means blurry, skaky, twisted. Like saying “my mind is blurry.” is the same as “my mind is shaky” but in certain phrases and such like in this anime opening. It would just be better written as Twisted.

  9. naww….. i just want a link so i can download this song…. mp3 format pleaseee~ =3=

  10. I second celetii

  11. Ummm… I’m sorry to say but like none of the words in the translation lyrics are right… =( The real translations are:
    -snip by Atashi-
Well, that’s not all of it. But this is the beginning to “Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. Goodbye Mr. Despair” (just sayonara zetsubo sensei, really) Since it’s english subs I copied off the english translation. ANd usually those translations are right…
Really funny anime, you all should watch it ^^

  12. @ acidxlips:
I think what you had were a fansub’s lyrics. They’re not official so I won’t put any consideration into them.

    • this is.. very wrong

you’ve taken literal word translation without taking into consideration word placement, or meanings that fit the other lyrics…
      I speak japanese and english
and all these lyrics are are engrish, a straight literal translation, rather that an accurate english equivelant

in this context bure is twist, not shaky
      I’m a Twisted person

I’m sorry, but the fansub though not completely accurate is far more accurate than this

      • perhaps by using a more literal translation, one can understand the song in a more Japanese context, as in understanding through those literal meanings, rather than resorting to an English equivelant. Ever read translations of various literature? There are often translations of the same text, the Bible for example, by different people, and they are always different, but you can generally arrive to a similar understanding of the text regardless. Don’t be a fansub snob.

  13. i love this song and that anime
    yyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    yane
