I suspect that it is a typo on the booklet lyrics organizer’s part, but it might have been intentional as well. I’m keeping “KILA” until I find further evidence that it should be corrected to “KIRA”.
From looking at past blog stats, I know that Death Note songs will be extremely popular, so I’ve put the song up for download before the lyrics make it into the top five.

Hey, if u were looking for evidence on the whole KILA/KIRA debate? if u look at the MTH video for zetsubou billy then it has KIRA on a yellow card next to a dead TV presenter? approximately 2mins and 44 secs in

really, who cares if its kila or kira. in the end, when you sing along to the song, it really doesnt matter. no need to waste time arguing/debating online about what the lyrics posted by atashi should be.
just appreciate that atashi translated all this gibberish zetsubou billy for us.

For Kila/Kira, I supposed it does not make a difference because Japanese Language do not differentiate between the ‘R’ and ‘L’ pronunciation.

as i recall, they do not pronounce the letter “L” clearly…
instead, they replaced it with “R”
ex.. KIRA -> KILA
RAITO -> LIGHT
MERO -> MELLO
ERU -> L

Because there is no “L”
In japanese, kira when translated
Will in fact be kila
But in japanese because there is no “l”
they always use “r” to replace the “l”
So technically it is KIRA.

they just don’t have the signs/syllables to say “Light”, so they have to use something that sounds similar (ra-i-to) (Engrish is fun XD).
(However, what gets on my nerves is ppl who write “L, Mello etc”, but always write “Raito”, come on, then you’d have to write “Eru” as well

It is supposed to be kira. Look at Maximum The Harmone’s video to this song; http://youtube.com/watch?v=JuQPoEjgLZw (02:43-44, like pking8786 also stated, but he didn’t provide a link). Also I screencap’d it (to make it easier for you): http://img478.imageshack.us/img478/6615/kiraal0.png .
If you checked the link, you’ll see that they spelled it kira and you can also clearly hear that that they pronounce the Japanese word for killer (kira) with an r rather than an l.

In Japanese ‘R’ and ‘L’ are inter changable, That’s why they call Light “Righto” and when japanese people speak english they some times have trouble with l’s resulting in mispronucnciations such as “Herro”

For those of you asking if it was made specifficaly for Death Note, check the link that “thatOneGuy” posted. The video has a guy writting names in a death note. It is meant for the show. Also, I think I saw something about it on wikipedia about it being for it. As for the Pronunciation, if they put it in the lyric book several times the same way I hardly think it would be a typo. Although every anime lyric site I’ve been to has had it as “Kira.” This may just be one of life’s unsolvable mysteries unless someone knows the band personally :-p

I have seen Billy used in American culture as just the name of a generic kid, equivalent to John Doe.

Kira is wrong, in the anime, they say Kiraa, but none fansub was put it in translations. -_-
The correct is KIRAA, that’s a “japonization” of the englsh word Killer.

dank joo. i’v bin looking fur dis sung fur a long time.
to be honast, dis is di only anime show i watch because dis one is more… eh soficticated, i guess thats how its spelled, und its very very intence to me. it keeps my mind tinking bout tings like good und evil. so its worth staying up till 1 or 2 in da moring just to watch bout tirty minuts of it. lol ( isnt it lol?)
